Bruce Kaplan apprenticed the art of tattooing with Bruce Bart in Tannersville, New York, at the start of 1988 and has been tattooing professionally since 1989. He has owned Lark Tattoo since its opening in Albany, NY in 1993 and in Westbury, NY in 2000. Bruce has studied and practiced art his whole life and holds a BFA from Parsons School of design, where his studies focused on graphic and communication design.
The art and permanence of tattooing has always been magical to Bruce. His first memories of tattoos were at an outdoor summer time flea market at the age of 7 or 8. He saw two men with full tattooed sleeves… he couldn’t take his eyes off the colorful pictures that covered their arms. Bruce enjoys tattooing in many styles, which is what gives him such a diverse range of clients. Whether doing Japanese themed designs in his signature “color bomb” style or Black and Grey work, it’s hard work that inspires Bruce. He strives to have the most welcoming shop with the most talented crew possible.“I pride myself on knowing that my work is dedicated to the fine art of Tattooing, through the collaboration between client and artist.” -Bruce
